Nihon No Mikata

Nihon no Mikata (On Japan’s Side) by Yazima Biyoushits

Enjoy watching!

Whenever I watch jap tv shows, or go to the mall, I always hear this song and I kind of like its catchy tune and the coarse funky voices. Haha! Much more when my japanese boss sang this song in one of our karaoke after-parties. I am so very tempted to post the video I took of him, but he will definitely kick my ass.

Though I am not sure if this is the right translation, you could just go ahead and take a look:

We come from afar
We come from NEVADA
We do have our passports
We have YEN too, if only a little
The spinning sushi surprised us
We hear that everyone here is friendly
Is the Thunder Man close by?
Unable to communicate verbally, we got glared at
But...CO.MRA.DE
Where can we meet a samurai?
CO.MRA.DE The seventeen evolutions of Yamato Nadeshiko
This country holds dreams, doesn't it?
PAO PAO PAO PAO
PAO PAO PAO PAO
Tonight too, the newscaster
Has a sunken and dispirited expression
Looking at it, we feel very sorry for him
But...CO.MRA.DE
Is the Way of the Warrior a metropolitan expressway?
CO.MRA.DE There's no Kabuki-za in Kabuki-cho
The ingredients of miso soup are tofu and wakame seaweed
Natto is very NEVADA
Shabada Dabada
CO.MRA.DE Nevertheless, we'll sing
CO.MRA.DE Believing in you, we'll dance
Nevertheless, we love Japan
PAO PAO PAO PAO
PAO PAO PAO PAO
PAO PAO PAO PAO
PAO PAO PAO PAO

Sojourn: Hakone Owakudani Valley

DSCF0454

Owakudani , "The Valley of Hell"

Owakudani is located along the Hakone Ropeway and lies between Sounzan and Togendaiko. It is still spewing and bubbling with sulphur and thermal smoke about 3000 years after the last volcanic eruption of Mt. Kamiyama.  The entire area is still hazy and smells of sulphur and egg. Around the crater at Owakudani is where you find what I call the "Egg of Life". It is known locally as kurotamago or black-egg.

 black eggs

Kuro-tamago (Black eggs)

According to Japanese legend, every black egg that you eat will prolong your life by 7 years. Kuro-tamago are very popular as a life-prolonging food.

One black egg for adding 7 years to your life.

Two black eggs for adding 14 years to your life....

But for 3 eggs..hmmmm.. i’m not sure (T_T)

Cable Car

Most visitors who arrive at Owakudani’s cable car terminal brave the one kilometer hike up to where the eggs are boiled and served.

A word of warning for those with a fear of heights: when you cross a ridge and are suddenly suspended hundreds of feet in the air above the this valley, it’s a bit unnerving. On a windy day it can be especially interesting. LOL. Fortunately, you’ll have a good view of Mt. Fuji to help dispel the worst of the panic. :)
